We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Technical Lead (Linux Administration) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Linux server administration, virtualization platforms, networking fundamentals, and system troubleshooting. This role involves leading technical initiatives, supporting infrastructure, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless operations.
Key Responsibilities
Linux Administration • Install, configure, and maintain all major Linux distributions (Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL, Fedora, SUSE, Arch). • Manage partitioning, file systems (ext4, XFS, Btrfs, ZFS), and package management tools (APT, YUM/DNF, Zypper, Pacman). • Handle system initialization using systemd and init.d.
User & Permission Management • Manage users, groups, and sudoers access. • Configure file ownership, ACLs, and security frameworks such as SELinux and AppArmor.
Virtualization & Hosting • Install, configure, and manage Proxmox VE. • Create, manage, and monitor KVM virtual machines & LXC containers. • Implement backup and restore strategies within Proxmox. • Integrate networking and storage solutions (Ceph, ZFS, NFS, iSCSI). • Provide support for WHMCS-based help desk solutions.
Networking Fundamentals • Administer and troubleshoot TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VLANs, and VPNs. • Manage IP addressing, subnetting, and routing. • Configure and maintain firewalls (iptables, nftables, firewalld, ufw). • Conduct network diagnostics using tools like ping, traceroute, netstat, ss, tcpdump, and nmap.
Content Delivery Networks (CDN) • Understand CDN concepts and work with CDN providers. • Integrate websites/services with CDN and configure DNS for CDN usage.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance • Resolve OS-level issues including boot/GRUB problems, service failures, and resource bottlenecks. • Analyze logs (/var/log, rsyslog, journald) and diagnose hardware issues (SMART monitoring, RAID, NIC failures, memory/CPU diagnostics). • Use remote management tools (iLO, iDRAC, IPMI). • Coordinate with onsite teams for cabling, hardware replacements, and device setup; manage escalation procedures and maintain documentation.
Monitoring & Security • Implement and maintain monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana). • Harden servers by configuring firewalls, securing SSH, and applying timely patches.
Qualifications & Skills • 7+ years of Linux Administration experience (or equivalent skill set). • Strong knowledge of virtualization platforms (Proxmox, KVM, LXC). • Solid understanding of networking, firewalls, and CDN integration. • Proven experience in troubleshooting at OS and hardware levels. • Familiarity with monitoring tools and security best practices. • Excellent communication and coordination skills for working with onsite teams.
Preferred Attributes • Certification(s) in Linux Administration, Networking, or Virtualization (RHCE, LFCS, CompTIA Linux+, etc.). • Hands-on experience with WHMCS or similar help desk systems. • Ability to document processes and create clear technical instructions.
