Requirement Gathering and Analysis:
Collaborate with stakeholders (clients, product owners, etc.) to understand their business needs. Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications for the development team. Organise workshops, interviews, or surveys to gather business requirements.
Process Mapping and Documentation:
Create flowcharts, diagrams, and process maps to visually represent business workflows and system processes. Document As-Is (current state) and To-Be (future state) processes for stakeholders and development teams.
Liaison Between Business and Development Teams:
Act as a bridge between non-technical stakeholders and technical teams to ensure clear communication. Explain technical details to non-technical users and ensure developers understand business goals.
Creating User Stories and Use Cases:
Write detailed user stories or use cases defining end-user interactions with the software. Clarify acceptance criteria for features and functionalities.
Facilitating Meetings and Sprint Planning:
Organise and lead requirement review meetings, sprint planning sessions, and retrospectives. Ensure alignment between business and technical teams throughout the SDLC.
Assisting in User Acceptance Testing (UAT):
Coordinate and facilitate UAT by creating test scenarios, assisting users in testing the software, and ensuring it meets their expectations. Address any defects or issues raised during UAT.
Change Management and Impact Analysis:
Perform impact analysis on requested changes and communicate the risks, benefits, and effects on existing systems and processes.
Market Research and Competitor Analysis (Optional):
Conduct market research and competitor analysis to understand industry trends and ensure the product meets market needs.
Preferred Skills Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC):
Familiarity with methodologies like Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall and understanding team interactions during SDLC.
Stakeholder Management:
Ability to build relationships with key stakeholders and manage their expectations effectively.
Requirements Elicitation Techniques:
Mastering techniques such as interviews, workshops, brainstorming sessions, and creating wireframes or mockups.
Documentation Skills:
Strong writing skills for clear and concise documentation (e.g., Business Requirement Documents (BRD), Functional Requirement Specifications (FRS), and user stories).
Tools and Software:
Proficiency in tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Visio, Balsamiq, Trello, and wireframing or prototyping software.
Communication and Presentation:
Excellent communication skills to present ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Problem-Solving and Analytical Thinking:
Ability to understand problems quickly, analyse them, and propose practical solutions that align with business objectives.
Handling Ambiguity and Change:
Ability to work in fast-paced environments with changing requirements and priorities.
Testing and Quality Assurance (QA):
Understanding of how software testing works and coordinating UAT with end-users to ensure all requirements are tested and verified before release.
Business Domain Knowledge:
Knowledge of the industry or domain the business operates to provide valuable insights to the team.
Provide Mentorship to Junior Team Members:
Offer guidance and support to junior business analysts, helping them develop their skills and understanding of processes. Share best practices, provide feedback, and ensure their growth and success within the team.
