Job Description

The Infrastructure Architect will lead the architectural design, implementation of robust, scalable, secure, and high-performance infrastructure across multi-site data centers. This includes virtualization, OpenShift orchestration, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery strategies. The role ensures infrastructure readiness for modern workloads such as microservices, integration platforms, databases, data lakehouse, GIS, and DevOps tools, with a strong focus on automation, availability, and compliance Preferred Skills MUST HAVE Core Responsibilities

Design infrastructure blueprints supporting multi-site deployments with isolated yet synchronized application environments. Lead deployment architecture for VMware vSphere and vSAN clusters and oversee infrastructure provisioning for Red Hat OpenShift and IBM Cloud Pak platforms. Plan compute, storage, and networking configurations while integrating observability and security tools (e.g., EFK, Dynatrace, ManageEngine, IBM Guardium). Guide infrastructure setup for major workloads, including ArcGIS Enterprise, Oracle DB, Cloudera Data Platform, and IBM Cloud Pak for Integration. Define and implement inter-site network architecture, IP schemes, and DR solutions using tools like Zerto and Dell RecoverPoint. Ensure high availability, performance, and redundancy for enterprise systems such as analytics, middleware, and data platforms. Establish standards for infrastructure monitoring, logging, and alerting using Dynatrace, VMware vRealize, and EFK stack. Architect scalable backup and recovery strategies using SAN/NAS and orchestration tools like Perpetuuiti with clear RTO/RPO objectives.

Technical Skills

Expertise in VMware vSphere, vSAN, and hyper-converged infrastructure platforms. Experience architecting infrastructure for Red Hat OpenShift and containerized workloads. Proficient in SAN/NAS provisioning, backup architecture, and integration with enterprise platforms such as Oracle, Cloudera, and ArcGIS. Solid understanding of data center networking—firewalls, load balancers, DNS, SD-WAN, VPNs, and inter-site connectivity. Hands-on with automation and configuration tools like Ansible, Terraform, Workspace ONE UEM, and backup/replication tools (e.g., Zerto, Dell RecoverPoint). Familiarity with monitoring and logging stacks like Dynatrace, EFK, IBM Guardium, and Splunk. Working knowledge of disaster recovery, failover design, and resilient multi-site infrastructure planning.

Experience and Soft Skills

12+ years in IT infrastructure, including 4+ years in infrastructure architecture for enterprise scale environments. Demonstrated success in designing and deploying data centers or private/hybrid cloud platforms. Proficient in documenting infrastructure using tools like Visio, Draw.io, and Confluence for operational workflows and runbooks. Strong cross-functional collaboration with application, DevOps, security, and network teams to ensure seamless infrastructure delivery and support. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a focus on reliability, scalability, and performance.

SHOULD HAVE Responsibilities

Define standards for infrastructure service naming, resource tagging, and version control practices. Drive capacity planning initiatives for compute, storage, and network utilization across environments. Automate infrastructure provisioning using tools like Ansible and Terraform for consistency and repeatability. Implement security best practices, including RBAC, Active Directory integration, and access policy enforcement. Contribute to DR validation planning and lead coordination of environment-level failover and recovery testing.

Technical Skills

Familiarity with infrastructure integration needs for platforms such as IBM CP4I, ArcGIS Server, and OpenShift Data Foundation. Strong understanding of container networking models, ingress controllers, service mesh (e.g., Istio), and persistent volume provisioning. Hands-on experience in provisioning and hardening enterprise OS environments on Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Experience

Experience managing infrastructure for regionally distributed applications with replication and failover requirements. Involvement in high availability infrastructure setups supporting clustered databases (e.g., Oracle RAC), big data (e.g., Hadoop), or containerized microservices.

NICE TO HAVE Technical Skills and Experience

Experience in GitOps and ability to support GitOps based infrastructure provisioning and configuration management. Familiarity with advanced telemetry and observability integrations, including NOC dashboard design and cross-platform health visualization. Exposure to service mesh observability, infrastructure policy automation, or zero-touch provisioning approaches.
